Barry Buls, PharmD

Chief Operating Officer

I became a pharmacist because I thought it would be a fulfilling way to provide for my family in a trusted profession. After graduating from pharmacy school, I worked community and hospital pharmacy for 15 years, but I didn't feel I was able to connect with my patients like I wanted to. I was given the opportunity to move into the home infusion side of pharmacy and found I was able to spend more time with my patients; and get to see the bigger picture of the care and needs that were being met, or often ignored or denied. When we founded CSI Pharmacy, we did so with 5 patients that had been denied care by their previous home infusion agency because they were too difficult to care for; or didn't have the ability to afford their medications and supplies. Our team decided day one that we would make it our personal mission to find the patients who have fallen through the cracks of the medical system and find any way possible to provide the needed therapy for them. We chose autoimmune diseases as our primary focus of care and started working within these communities with physicians, nurses, and patients to provide the level of care required by these life changing diseases. I am honored to call CSI Pharmacy my home and honored to serve our patients in the best of times and the worst of times. I am truly happy when a patient tells us that their lives are getting easier or better because we have made a difference in their care. I am blessed to work with such a great team of like-minded people who have dedicated their lives to making a difference in a patient's care.

Michelle Vogel

Vice President of Patient Advocacy & Provider Relations

In 2016, Michelle joined CSI Pharmacy as Vice President of Patient Advocacy and Provider Relations to continue her outreach with patients ensuring that no patient goes without their lifesaving therapy in an affordable site of care.Michelle began her career, 30 years ago, as a Senior Legislative Assistant on Capitol Hill for a Member of Congress where she specialized in health care policy. Michelle enhanced her knowledge of the health arena as a Partner and Senior Associate at three firms where she represented academic medical centers, patient organizations, specialty hospitals, and health care coalitions. Michelle also served as the Vice President of Government Affairs and Reimbursement Services for the Immune Deficiency Foundation where she further developed her knowledge of patient groups, advocacy and health policy.

Michelle has years of experience testifying before Congress, federal agencies, and state legislatures. She is also a prominent speaker on topics such as Medicare reimbursement, the economics of the plasma industry, health insurance reform, Social Security disability, navigating health insurance, and patient advocacy. Michelle’s hobby is assisting patients to successfully navigate their health insurance policies to ensure that they get covered for their prescribed medications and other services.

She became a patient advocate because she enjoys helping others in need of a "voice" when life becomes so overwhelming due to disease and challenging healthcare needs. Michelle can personally relate to the need for having someone help during the most overwhelming and vulnerable times of your life, because she is also a patient with rare autoimmune and connective tissue disorders. Michelle learned that as a patient, it doesn't matter what your disease is; it is the journey you go through as you try to find a doctor who can diagnose you, hope there is a treatment for your disease, pray that your quality of life will improve, and hope that your insurance will cover the treatment and that it will be affordable. As a patient, we don't know where to go for help, who to ask for help, and all too often we fall through the cracks. When she joined the CSI family, they understood the importance of putting patients first, ensuring that they have the tools to navigate our healthcare system, assisting them in finding affordable health insurance, ensuring their lifesaving therapies are affordable and accessible, and most importantly having someone dedicated to making sure patients don't fall through the cracks. Michelle is  honored to be that person, helping as many members of the community as possible have the future they deserve!

Michelle received her Master’s in Public Administration from George Washington University and her Bachelor’s degree from American University.
