We know that those who live with rare, chronic diseases face many challenges. Our patient advocates work closely with patients and their healthcare providers to find solutions to these difficulties.
It’s hard enough for those who live with chronic or rare diseases to cope with their health challenges let alone all the other questions about specialist care, health insurance coverage, finances, and so much more. At CSI Pharmacy our patient advocates help you find the necessary resources to get the care you need, so you can focus on getting well.
Those who live with chronic or rare diseases often have trouble finding a physician—often a specialist—who can understand their symptoms and diagnose their condition correctly.
Once a diagnosis is made, they worry whether there are medications that can treat their condition. If they have health insurance, they worry about whether the treatment the doctor prescribes will be covered and whether they will be able to afford the out-of-pocket costs that aren’t covered.
Then there is concern about what happens if the insurance doesn’t cover the specialist or the special diagnostic tests. And what if the company denies coverage all together?
A patient advocate is a person who helps a patient work with others who influence the patient’s health, including doctors, insurance companies, employers, case managers, and lawyers. Patient advocates help resolve issues about health care, medical bills, and job discrimination related to a patient’s medical condition.
As a patient of CSI Pharmacy, you will have your own patient advocate to remove the burden of navigating your insurance policy and help you understand your coverage. Your advocate can assist you in choosing a new health insurance policy during open enrollment, work with your healthcare providers to resolve your healthcare needs, and assist you with the process of applying for disability. This is also the person you can lean on when you just don’t know where else to go.
At CSI Pharmacy, providing ongoing therapies in the comfort and convenience of your home is just the start of our mission. Working closely with patients and families means we also develop long-lasting relationships that go beyond that of provider and patient; we become family. That is why we refer to the groups we serve as “patient communities.”
This means working together to support and promote the work of disease-based patient support groups throughout the country. Our nurses, pharmacists, and patient advocates volunteer to speak at patient support groups and national conferences to educate patients and caregivers on issues, such as navigating insurance, individualizing therapies to meet unique needs, infusing specialty therapies in the home, understanding social security disability, and assisting in selection of the best health insurance plan for each individual. We are also available for one-on-one consultation. Just send us an email.
CSI Pharmacy unites patients, families, and healthcare providers to raise public awareness about important healthcare access issues, such as the need for access to affordable lifesaving and enhancing therapies; education for those with rare, genetic and chronic conditions; and diagnosis and treatment for these diseases by specialists. Such individuals work to bring about policy changes that will help ensure quality of care for patients and their families. Our nurses, pharmacists, and patient advocates volunteer to speak at patient support groups and national conferences to educate on issues, such as: navigating insurance, individualizing therapies to meet unique needs, infusing specialty therapies in the homecare setting, understanding social security disability, and assisting in selection of the best health insurance plan for each individual. We are also available on a one-on-one basis, by phone or email.
